Wild and Crazy

That was today. I spent the entire day printing copies of Tim's eagle project for the board of review tonight.

While they were printing I went out running errands. A few hours later...

I had gone to check out JoAnn's new store and found a sale on scrapbooking paper...5 for $1...over to Archivers to get some page things to store my old negatives...to the library to return stuff and get more stuff and then to Freddies to get a few things. BUT when I got to Freddies I realized that I had lost my shopping list. I could only remember 2 of the 3 things on the list. Oh, well. If it was that important I'll remember by Monday, I'm sure.

Home I go and I'm greeted with, "Mom, I can't print my birthday party invites because we are out of ink." I knew we were close, but I thought we had a little more than that. I still needed to scan 6 pages of Tim's project and print them out, too. So finally I decided a trip to Kinko's was in order.

"D-oh! Now I remember what I forgot at Freddies...giant paper clips!"

So back to Freddies...

I'm in the middle of Freddies and tugging at the neck of my t-shirt again. "Why is this darn thing climbing so much today?" I look. Lo, and behold...I've been wearing my t-shirt backwards ALL DAY!

We got the copies of the project put together and the board of review went smoothly. Now we are just waiting for the award to work it's way through the National office and the Postal Service to our house. Should take about six weeks.

I think I'll pay Kinko's to do all of it when it's James' turn.

Lent

Tom was interested in learning about lent and asked a friend about it. Ever since Lent has been mentioned often at our house.

Here's the comment today.

James said, "I'm not going to do dishes for 40 days. I'm giving it up for Lent."

Nice try, kid!

I'm such a slave driver...lol.

PR 8

That means that Tim has a Personal Record of 8 feet on pole vaulting. He figured it out at the end of last season and today was his first meet of this season. 8 feet is a new record for him!

Ready, set...go!

6 feet

6 feet 6 inches

7 feet

7 feet 6 inches--this one he actually hit the bar with his behind and pushed it back so it didn't fall...totally not intentional.

8 feet--first try

8 feet--second try

Yes!

Look at him go!

Way to go, Tim!

Email from John

also yesterday i was preparing some squirrel meat... man im a hoosier. but it turned out really really good. as it turns out a1 and squirrel are best friends and the crockpot works miracles with even the toughest meats. things are on the upturn for Mills!! he got rid of his old job because his boss started asking him to do wierd things involving him and his wife. Mills figured that was the environment he needed to get away from so he has been getting his life and house in order for the last couple days. AND almost immediatly after he quit he got a new job. now we just need to get his car fixed and he'll be self reliant again the legal way!! we are starting to see success with one of the programs weve started here and weve received a couple new referals one of which is Pam!! Pam is an awesome lady who really really wants exactly what we have to give her. we taught her the plan of salvation yesterday and it was incredible. we answered questions shes had all her life. things are moving forward and i guess i get to see where it all goes since i didnt get transfered. hopefully ill be able to figure out why im still here soon enough.
love ya
john

John is having a rough time in this area. It has been hard for him to keep going when not many want to hear the message, and there have been some crazy things happening in that area. Please, keep him in your prayers.

Fun Memory

I was doing a questionaire my cousin had done on facebook and came across the following question. It was so fun to think of this memory that I thought I'd share it here.

Ever had someone sing to you?

On my mission the lady and girls we lived with and our neighbor serenaded me on my birthday to wake me up.

I thought it was the alarm clock and told my companion to turn it off! Finally, I woke up.

6th Picture

Instructions: Go to your picture files. Open the 6th folder, and the 6th picture. Post it on your blog and tell the story of the picture. Then tag 6 people. (I'll just leave it open for whoever wants.)

This one is from our Church History Vacation in 2006. It is the sunset as seen from our campsite at Camp Nauvoo which is owned by the Community of Christ church. We stayed there 3 nights, and paid $3 per person each night. We even had showers and laundry facilities. We only had one neighbor in this field on one of the nights we were there.

I loved Nauvoo and would go back in a heart beat. The Spirit was so strong there. It was fun to learn about the pioneers. We even did a session in the Nauvoo Temple. My favorite part of Nauvoo was the Womanhood Garden. I remember when those statues were placed there and kept pinching myself to make sure I was really there seeing them with my own eyes.

I am so jealous because my aunt and uncle are going there in April to serve a mission!

Close up

It's been a busy week, so this is the best I could do with it already being Friday. I want to play with my camera a bit tomorrow. We'll see what I come up with then. I took this in the Sacred Grove in 2006 and used the photo editer to get even closer.

Killer deal!

We've been wanting to replace the old sliding door with a new one. So when the tax return came and the door handle promptly broke we decided it is time. The old door was approximately 30 years old.

Our neighbor is a windows man. He doesn't do it for his bread and butter anymore, but he enjoys doing it. He had this door in storage from two years ago. He gave it to us for his cost. He also installed it for the base rate instead of charging more since it was a custom installation. It cost us easily 50% of what he would have charged while running his business.

We are thrilled to have a door that opens and closes easily instead of the old one that we had to wrench open and shut. It also LOCKS!!! So no more cheater bar! And the white finish looks so much better in that corner.

Now to paint the room this summer!
